Supporting learning in Timbuktu

The main Primary school in Timbuktu is Ecole Fondomentele Mahamee Fundogoumo.  The school population is over 700 with children in busy classes often exceeding 70 pupils.  Resources are scarce here and there is no predictable mail service and no computers in school. There are no chairs or tables in some classrooms and pupils have no exercise books so write on small blackboards.  The school is linked with Hay Primary School and Wyche Primary School in Nantwich. Year 6 pupils, Mrs Howard and Mr Fiddes did a wonderful talk in the Hay Festival about their project  hoping to plant a garden and dig a well in the school.
