Textbooks2Timbuktu contributes to the Hay2Timbuktu twinning initiative. All of the funds we raise for Textbooks2Timbuktu are used to provide textbooks and other resources to help learning in Timbuktu. Every pound donated by the public goes directly to schools. To date, between the Hay Festival, the efforts of pupils from Gwernyfed High School and Wyche Primary School in Nantwich and donations from individuals we have provided over £1,500 worth of equipment to help education in Timbuktu schools. The pupils of Hay Primary School have raised over £1300 and rising to help dig a well and build a garden in a school in Timbuktu. Another £1500 has been raised through the kind help of the Hay Festival and recently Wastetechnique, one of Wales' leading recycling companies has kindly offered between 20 and 30 desktop computers to help in a project to develop education in Second Cycle Yehia Alkaya Ibrahim school. The Black Mountain Lions and Wales for Africa have also supported our fund to bring teachers over from Timbuktu to Wales. We are planning the visit for June 2011.
